The Golden Mile runs from Marbella town to Puerto Banús, a corridor of mature gardens, beach clubs and long-standing residents. It is the address the rest of the coast is measured against, and the one buyers return to when they want a home rather than a project.
It is not a single urbanisation but a stretch of coastline with distinct pockets: beachside gated communities south of the road, and the hillside enclaves rising toward Sierra Blanca behind it.
The difference between the two sides is the single biggest driver of price here. Beachside buys proximity and privacy; the hillside buys view, space and light. Both are the Golden Mile, and they are not comparable in value.
Families who stay. The Golden Mile has an unusually high proportion of permanent residents rather than seasonal owners, which is what keeps the paseo, the schools and the restaurants alive in February.
Every home is walked before it is shown. On the Golden Mile that matters more than anywhere, because two houses on the same street can be twenty years apart in reality and identical in the brochure.
