Manilva is the westernmost municipality of Málaga province, bordering Cádiz and Sotogrande. It is quieter and less developed than Marbella or Estepona, with a working marina at Puerto de la Duquesa, small beach communities like Sabinillas, and vineyards inland around Manilva town.
Manilva offers quieter coastal living and stronger value per square metre than Marbella or central Estepona, while still being close to Sotogrande's schools and marina. It suits buyers who want a first Spanish home or a permanent residence away from the busiest resort towns.
Winters are noticeably quieter than in Marbella, and the community is a mix of Spanish, British and Northern European residents.
Puerto de la Duquesa is a small working marina with restaurants, cafés and a low key nightlife strip. It anchors the coastal community and is the social centre of the area alongside Sabinillas.
Sea view apartments and townhouses in gated urbanisations dominate the coast, with detached villas on the hillsides behind. Inland, around Manilva town, you also find country homes among vineyards.
Manilva sits below both Marbella and Sotogrande on price. It is one of the more accessible coastal municipalities in the region for buyers looking for sea views without a top-of-market budget.
